Prepare yourself for an exciting weekend of television as Taylor Swift has dominated the release calendar, causing the movie industry to clear their schedules. The only major film hitting theaters this weekend is "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour," a concert film showcasing her highly anticipated summer tour. With the success of her live shows, this film is expected to make quite an impact. If concert films aren't your forte, turn your attention to the small screen. Netflix brings to you "The Fall of the House of Usher," a new project by renowned horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan, bringing Edgar Allen Poe stories to life with the talents of Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood, Mary McDonnell, Henry Thomas, and more. For fans of classic horror anthologies, Shudder premieres the fourth season of "Creepshow," a spin on the beloved series by Greg Nicotero. Looking for a good laugh this Halloween? Don't miss the seventh season of "Rick and Morty," featuring yet unknown voice actors for the iconic characters. Additionally, Paramount+ presents the highly anticipated revival series of "Frasier," once again led by Kelsey Grammer in the titular role.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour

Revamped:

Scheduled Release Date: October 13, exclusively in Theaters

Taylor Swift has effortlessly demonstrated her dominance over the movie industry by strategically positioning her concert film right in the heart of October. Undoubtedly, this weekend holds immense significance for her dedicated fanbase, the Swifties. The film showcases the remarkable spectacle that was The Eras Tour, a series of sensational performances where Swift mesmerized her audience by featuring songs from her entire discography in a single night. Directed by Sam Wrench, acclaimed for his exceptional work on acclaimed concerts such as Billie Eilish: Live at the O2 and Lizzo: Live in Concert, this awe-inspiring project captures the electric atmosphere of Swift's first three sensational nights during the six-show series held in Los Angeles in August. As we prepare for this extravaganza, I sincerely wish for Swift's fans to have an unforgettable weekend while also hoping that the general movie-goers can navigate through the swarm of enthusiastic Swifties that will undoubtedly take over theaters.

The Fall of the House of Usher

The entire miniseries, The Fall of the House of Usher, is now available for streaming on Netflix. Mike Flanagan, known for his horror adaptations, is back with his annual project. Although the series takes its name from one of Poe's stories, it draws inspiration from multiple works by the author. The show delves into "The Raven," "The Masque of the Red Death," and Poe's only novel, "The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket." The storyline revolves around a corrupt CEO whose shady past is questioned as his children mysteriously die one by one. Flanagan, who has successfully adapted Stephen King and Shirley Jackson, takes on yet another horror legend this time. Familiar faces like Carla Gugino, Kate Siegel, and Henry Thomas return to collaborate with Flanagan, while newcomers such as Mary McDonnell and Mark Hamill also join the cast.

Creepshow

Therese Lacson from our website found Flanagan's latest series to be his most conventional work so far. However, she still thoroughly enjoyed it and described it as suitably creepy. Despite the occasional bloated plot, "The Fall of the House of Usher" showcases Flanagan's expertise as a horror storyteller. Moreover, the narrative's strength lies in its exploration of complex emotions that go beyond the mere act of terrifying the audience.

Where to Watch: Season four is now streaming on Shudder

If you're a fan of horror anthologies, Stephen King, and George Romero, then special effects artist Greg Nicotero has something for you. The fourth season of Creepshow is now available on Shudder, and it's packed with exciting content. Instead of focusing on one particular story, each episode explores two different horror tales featuring new and engaging cast members. Notable appearances include horror movie legend Tom Atkins and popular Midnight Club favorite Ruth Codd, each holding their own in unique stories. With its comic book violence, classic horror elements, surprising guest stars, and the exceptional effects from Nicotero, Creepshow's fourth season promises to be a must-watch for October. Our website's Maggie Boccella found that the simpler episodes worked best, highlighting that when Creepshow steps away from its obsession with practical effects and shocking visuals, it becomes powerful storytelling that lingers in your mind, leaving a chilling sensation even when you know nothing is truly there.

Rick and Morty

The first episode of season 7 of Rick and Morty airs on Sunday night on Adult Swim. It is argued that Rick and Morty is the most popular animated series of this current era. However, there has been controversy surrounding Justin Roiland, one of the show's co-creators, due to domestic violence allegations. As a result, Roiland will not be returning to work on the show or voicing the main characters. This change will bring an interesting and welcome shift to the series, although it remains unknown who will take over the roles. Despite this, Dan Harmon will still be in charge of the show, and the original voice actors, including Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer, and Sarah Chalke, will continue voicing their respective characters. This season will consist of 10 episodes, featuring Rick and Morty embarking on their usual bizarre and cosmic adventures.

Frasier

The first 2 episodes of Season 1 can be streamed on Paramount+. Kelsey Grammer is making a comeback in a fresh Frasier series. This time, Dr. Frasier Crane will be seen in Boston instead of Seattle, where the original show took place. With the show's setting in Boston, there is potential for beloved characters from Cheers to make cameo appearances. The series will revolve around Frasier pursuing unfulfilled dreams while also forging new paths. Fans can anticipate the return of cast members like Bebe Neuwirth and Peri Gilpin, as well as the introduction of new faces throughout the show.
