The highly acclaimed HBO teen drama Euphoria is preparing for its highly anticipated Season 3. Here's what we have gathered about the upcoming installment of this gripping series.

Euphoria captivated audiences globally with its raw and thought-provoking depiction of teenage life and the intricate struggles of addiction. The show's remarkable triumph can largely be attributed to the outstanding performances delivered by its talented cast.

Zendaya achieved great success playing the lead role of Rue, a troubled teenager battling drug addiction. Her outstanding performance led to numerous awards, including a Golden Globe. Although the release of the show's third season is anticipated to be in the distant future, we have compiled all the information available about what we can anticipate in Season 3 of Euphoria.

Is there a Euphoria Season 3 release?

As of writing, Euphoria is expected to come out sometime in 2025, but there is no official release date.

According to a Vogue interview featuring Maude Apatow, the talented actor from Euphoria, it was revealed that the shooting for Euphoria Season 3 was originally scheduled to commence at the end of 2023. Additionally, Apatow disclosed that she remains unaware of any details related to the upcoming season and its storyline. "To be honest, I have no clue about anything," she expressed. "We should be receiving scripts and updates on the next season relatively soon, but for now, I'm completely in the dark!"

The recent WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes will further delay Season 3 until 2025, as reported by Variety. Stay tuned as we continuously update this section with the latest information.

Which of the cast will be returning for Euphoria Season 3?

Season 3 of Euphoria is set to bring back the majority of its main cast. Despite speculations about Zendaya's departure from the show, it has been confirmed that she will reprise her role as Rue in Season 3.

As well as Zendaya, the following actors are all set to return for Season 3:

Hunter Schafer as Jules

Jacob Elordi as Nate

Alexa Demie as Maddy

Algee Smith as Chris

Sydney Sweeney as Cassie

Maude Apatow as Lexi

Storm Reid as Gia

Nika King as Leslie

Austin Abrams as Ethan

Colman Domingo as Ali

Dominic Fike as Elliot

However, one cast member who won't be making a return is Barbie Ferreira. In seasons one and two, she portrayed the character Kat Hernandez but recently shared on Instagram that she won't be a part of Season 3. Ferreira explained her decision, expressing her desire to avoid being typecast as just the "fat best friend." In August of this year, she addressed her followers with a heartfelt message.

"After four years of portraying the incredible and enigmatic character, Kat, it is with a heavy heart that I bid farewell," she expressed, her eyes welling up with tears.

"I sincerely hope that many of you were able to connect with her just as I did, and that her journey as a character brought you immense joy. I poured my heart and soul into her, and I hope that my passion resonated with you. With love, Katherine Hernandez."

Javon Walton, who portrayed the character Ash Tray, will not be reprising his role in Euphoria Season 3 due to his character's violent demise in the Season 2 finale. Furthermore, it is improbable that Angus Cloud, who portrayed Fezco, will return for Season 3 following his unfortunate passing in July 2023.

Do we know anything about Euphoria Season 3’s plot?

Currently, there are no details on what will occur in Season 3 of Euphoria.

The Season 2 finale ended with an explosive cliffhanger, causing significant damage to the existing relationships between the characters. In Season 3, Rue's journey will likely revolve around her life after ending her relationship with Jules, with a potential focus on reconciling with her. One notable transformation in Season 2 was Cassie's character, as she transitioned from a carefree personality to someone more obsessed and selfish. Despite reaching a breaking point in the previous season, Sydney Sweeney, the actor who portrays Cassie, has expressed her desire to further delve into Cassie's dark side in Season 3.

“I found it intriguing to explore a different side of Cassie during a scene with Nate where she declares herself crazier than Maddy. She embraced a more malevolent and intense demeanor, departing from her usual frantic nature. I yearn for the opportunity to delve further into that darker aspect of her personality,” she disclosed to Variety.

"I derive satisfaction from portraying characters who possess intricate layers, constantly challenging the audience to ponder whether they are morally righteous or malicious, virtuous or corrupt. It stimulates my own intellect and provides me with a thought-provoking experience," she expressed.

At the start, I never perceived Cassie as frightening. Instead, she appeared to me as an extremely delicate and wounded young woman. However, in a recent interview with Elle, Sam Levinson disclosed his vision for Euphoria Season 3, describing it as a "noir" and expressing his intention to delve into the exploration of Rue, played by Zendaya, and her struggle to maintain her principles in a corrupt society.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan, I am thrilled about the upcoming third season of Euphoria. The show has captivated audiences with its raw and unflinching portrayal of teenage life, and I can't wait to see what's next for the characters.

I'm particularly interested in seeing how Rue's character develops after the events of the season 2 finale. Rue has struggled with addiction throughout the series, and it will be interesting to see how she copes with the aftermath of her relapse. I'm also curious to see how the relationships between the characters evolve. The season 2 finale left many of the characters in a state of flux, and I'm eager to see how they navigate their new dynamics.
